Kirtanam Bhakti is considered to be one of the easiest form of Bhakti in this age of Kaliyug; in an humble attempt to make this even easier, the Devotees at Shree Swaminarayan Temple Adelaide have put in an tremendous amount of effort to gather and compile a database of over 2500 Kirtans. These Kirtans are in Gujarati and in transliterated English (Lipi) so that devotees who cannot read Gujarati can also take advantage of this app.

Why Sing Kirtans?

The singing of Kirtans (Divine songs describing glories of God and His various pastimes) is important in one’s endeavor of devotional service unto God, after all is one of the devotion services (Bhakti) as stated by our revered Scriptures. The Nand Saints composed thousands of verses of Kirtans and sang them in-front of the ever present God. The divinity experienced through Kirtan Bhakti liberates the mind from the mode of ignorance and elevates it above the three-fold modes (Satva-Rajas-Tamas)

Shreemad Bhagwatam Canto 12, Chapter 3 & Shreemad Satsangi Jeevan Canto 4, Chapter 34

In the verse above, Lord Ved Vyas states that ‘Just as one attains merit through mediation of God in Satyug, offering sacrifices to the Lord through the holy fire in Tretayug, worshipping the Lord with various offerings (with shodasopacara, the sixteen kinds of paraphernalia) in Dvaaparyug, one attains all the merits of these combined through chanting the names of the Lord in Kaliyug.’ Lord Shree Swaminarayan also states the very same in the 4th canto, 34th chapter of Shreemad Satsangi Jeevan. This chanting constitutes of Dhun (Repeated Chanting) or Kirtans (Verses describing various glories and pastimes of God)

Ved Vyas, Shreemad Bhagwatam Canto 12, Chapter 13

In the 12th Canto of Shreemad Bhagwatam, Lord Ved Vyas states ‘I offer my respectful obeisance unto the Supreme Lord whose congregational chanting of holy names destroys all sinful reactions and who relieves all material suffering.

Shatanand Swami says, ‘I bow forth to Thee (God), Whose pastimes, glories and hymns are fruitful to the reciter/reader/listener’. Kirtan Bhakti further strengthens one’s devotional love for the Supreme Personality.

Pourquoi Chantez Kirtans?

Le chant des Kirtans (chansons divines décrivant gloires de Dieu et de ses divers passe-temps) est important dans son effort du service de dévotion à Dieu, après tout, est l'un des services de dévotion (Bhakti) comme indiqué par nos Écritures vénérés. Les Saints Nand composé des milliers de vers de Kirtans et les chantaient en face de la toujours présente Dieu. La divinité vécue à travers Kirtan Bhakti libère l'esprit du mode de l'ignorance et l'élève au-dessus des modes triples (Satva-Rajas-Tamas)

Shreemad Bhagwatam Canto 12, chapitre 3 & Shreemad Satsangi Jeevan Canto 4, Chapitre 34

Dans le verset ci-dessus, Lord Ved Vyas affirme que «Tout comme on atteint le mérite grâce à la médiation de Dieu dans Satyug, offrant des sacrifices au Seigneur par le feu sacré dans Tretayug, adorer le Seigneur avec différentes offres (avec shodasopacara, les seize types d'accessoires ) dans Dvaaparyug, on atteint tous les mérites de ces combinés par chanter les noms du Seigneur dans Kaliyug. Seigneur Shree Swaminarayan indique également la même dans le 4ème canto, chapitre 34e de Shreemad Satsangi Jeevan. Ce chant constitue de Dhun (répétée Chanting) ou Kirtans (versets décrivant diverses gloires et passe-temps de Dieu)

Au 12ème Canto de Shreemad Bhagwatam, Lord Ved Vyas déclare: «Je propose mon obéissance respectueuse pour le Seigneur Suprême dont la congrégation chant des saints noms détruit toutes les réactions pécheresses et qui soulage toute souffrance matérielle.
